Default Problem with throttle body

I just installed a ported throttle body on my car and I started it up and its idling to high. It was not doing this before I install it. Everything went good in the install process. And when I driving the rpms does not came down to 900ish till im at a complee stop. Its idling around 2100 rpms like im about to race at a stop light or something. Does anybody have any ideas.

you might have to drill a hole in the trottle blade to get more air at idle, also i would just double check everything is on correctly like any vaccume lines that could have got popped off.

The TB might be ported to much, which would let to much air in when closed. Try to post a pic of the TB so wee can see it.

Sounds like a classic over-port......either the blade or where it closes. Hope you didn't throw away the receipt.

**** I thought the more air the better. I will post pictures tomorrow. Well I won it off ebay so I hope the guy will be nice and give me my money back here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123 When I holed it up to the light I can see light coming throw the side just a little. I had to be a cheap *** and go with cheap instead of quality.

well before ya panic I would check the set screw. You may have to screw it down a little more so the blade closes more. I would try that. Maybe the guy that ported it messed with it

It's a case of too much air getting by at idle. The IAC won't fully close until you're stopped so it revs higher while rolling, and even when it's fully closed it can pull the idle below 900 because too much air is getting past the blade. Like Bad Blue WS6 said, that housing doesn't look like a lot of material was removed, but the blade looks like it was ground on a lot. If you have another stock blade try swapping it into your ported housing and it may idle fine. A lot of people just go too far on the knife edging.

Start off with backing the setscrew out and loosen the
blade screws then tighten very lightly, open the blade
and let it snap shut a couple of times. This will center
up the blade in the throat. Tighten the blade screws
while on-seat. Then adjust the setscrew back in until
you just feel it start to prop the blade off the seat.
This should be your best seal position. If it's still leaking
then you may need a new blade. Check PCV line as this
can make a vacuum leak, I've seen them with a tear in
the soft rubber bit between valve & TB, and high idle
as you describe.

good advice here... The set screw and blade screws adjustment can make all the difference. Try that first before you go returning it or swapping parts... good luck

check your iac valve. mine started doing that a week after i ported my tb, so i knew it wasnt from over porting. i ended up pulling it apart and cleaning the crap out of the iac. do an iac and tps reset and see if that helps.
