help! AIR blockoff screw broke

help! AIR blockoff screw broke

My car was making a tapping sound whenever i accelerated and i found out why. I had the AIR assembly removed from my car a few weeks ago and one of the screws for the AIR blockoff cover on the driver side broke.

What can I do to remove the screw? There's only about 1/32" of thread sticking out. If i cant remove the screw, is there any other way I can block off the AIR hole?

You can get an expanding plug from any auto parts store

would the plug withstand the hot temperatures and pressures?

Oh yea hey work fine. I had one in mine before I got my ls6. You can also get a freeze plug and tap it in place and it puts a solid seal around it. I think the freeze plug size is 1-3/8" but I am not positive. Pretty sure though. And if you are concerned about it leaking you can put some rtv around it

simpler idea....jb weld...back in the day when i had those manifolds...the screws never stayed in...so i jb welded and they never leaked...

i think you're talking about the EGR where it connects to the top of the intake manifold..for the AIR block off, i would just weld it, then you dont have to worry about it..
