Default 4" over the axle?

I've got LTs going to a 3" Y to a 4" I pipe with a bullet turned down before the axle. I thought I'd be able to live with it but I guess I'm getting old because it's just too damn loud inside the car for a DD. My question is has anyone had any luck running a 4" pipe over the axle or am I going to need to reduce it to 3" to get it through there?
If I have to reduce it my plan is to have the exhaust shop put in a flange then a reducer behind the bullet so I can remove the tail pipe easily when going to the track or whatever. Either way I am going to have them put in a flange so whenever I need to remove the Y pipe I can easily do so.

Before reducing it to 3", consider gradually flattening the 4" pipe slightly (to 3") in that area. The cross section should remain the same, right?

I don't think 4" over the axle will work. Now I have TDs, and its really tight with the 9". I know you have the ory setup, but i still don't see how there would be that much more room.

Pics kinda suck, but you get the idea. BTW, why not just get an Electric cut out for when you go to the track. Weight savings????

Yes it will work. You will either have to move or get rid of the upper panhard bar. I got rid of mine.

BMR makes a relocated uPHB.

any ill affects at the track by removing it (I'm coming from a leaf spring world) I really don't want to spend that much, I think I might just have to reduce it...

These are pictures of my setup. 3" from the headers to a 3" to 4" Flowmaster Y collector which then goes into a 4" qtp cutout then reduces back to 3" into the Borla. The shop that did my y-pipe had just done a 4" catback on a Camaro and I don't remember seeing any PHB relocation to make it work.

according to their website they do, couldn't tell from the pics if the pipe going over the axle was flattened at all so maybe this will work. I'm trying to figure it out is cause I want to order an additional bullet to go behind the axle to help keep the cops happy..

I think orangeapeel had a 4'' exhaust on his car, throw him a PM, and I know that mufflex makes a 4'' system for our cars. I know that the fit is extremely tight but its possible.

What do you mean???

I have a 4" system from the y-pipe all the way back to the rear bumper. I KNOW it will work. I will try and get some pics later, I just have to actually take them...
