Default Fast 92 vs LS6

GM HiTech Performance mag tested a new FAST 92mm/FAST 92mm TB vs LS6/Stock TB. The before numbers were 390/369, with the 92mm it made 411/382. The graph shows them equal to about 3700 rpm, then it starts gaining. This LS1 peaked at about 6250 RPM, it had a 225/229 cam, not sure of other mods. It was retuned after the install.

Yeah.. "good" power.. 20hp. GM Hightech priced the TB and intake at $1400.00 Man.. for another $250.00 I can buy a Riding mower with 3 more hp.

Some people always looks at mods as a individual $$$ per HP ratio.

Its the overall combo that matters most.

That intake is going to make power and support alot of power for future mods and is x-ferable to almost any setup short of needing a sheetmetal intake. Personally I am a person who builds a car from the rear end forward. So I would be looking at suspension and a 12 bolt/9" setup.

That's exactly my thoughts. Why have more power when all you're going to do is limit the survivability of your parts? I'm personally not going to work on any more power until i have the money or survivability of my car on my side. Didn't mean to highjack the thread though..

Those are definitely impressive gains.

Is that just a 92mm intake right out of the box, or one that has been ported?

Yea, was a lot of money (even more if you include porting), but my rational was that it allowed me to make the same power as some of the guys with those huge cams, but still retain drivability. It certaintly isn't the first thing I would have done though.

BTW +1 on the 9" setup.

Not really if you have over $3000 in H/C or $7000 long block and your limiting factor is the intake/TB.

Me too!! well 90/90.... At 3700rpm and up it looks like it will help me out. My stall will put me right where i can start taking advantage of it For some reason I thought the real advantage of the fAST didn't come in til later but this is good to know. I ws looking for that old post with the overlayed graphs that showed a FAST90, LS6, LS1 and maybe one other against each other but couldn't find it.

I took a pic of the graph, its pretty fuzzy. The HP/Torque cross at 5250, so use that as your reference for RPM.
