Default Hard to put in reverse, Exhaust related??

Hey guys, im having a problem with my shifter, you know how theres a little notch that keeps you from going all the way over to the right before you go up into reverse? well mine is hard *** hell to move over but it goes into reverse fine! day before yesterday i installed my cam and everything was fine, next day pulled it out the garagein reverse just fine and took it on a lift and installed my qtp headers but didnt have enough time to do the y pipe before the lift rental place closed so i drove it home open headers(wow) and it backed out the lift fine. so i drove the car to my brothers to install the y pipe, drove it up on ramps and did the pipe and when i was finished was when i realized that i had to use both hands just to move the shifter all the way to the right to put it in reverse.

what gives? what could i have done with the exhaust to cause the shifter to be so hard to move over? i hope someone can help cause im clueless and im not even sure with section to post this in. the car is an 01 SS and it barely has 20k miles and it only started doing this yesterday after the y pipe install. someone give me suggestions please.

I don't see what you could have done to cause this. I have done several headers and ORY pipe installs and never did anything that I thought would remotely affect the transmission. I'm just as clueless as you are. I hope you figure it out.

You may have accidentally unplugged the reverse lockout switch.

Check your transmission wiring to make sure nothing got melted, damaged, unplugged, etc.

See if the ENG SEN fuse is blown. If it is look for a burnt 02 harness against the exhaust somewhere.

The MAF, 02s, along with the skip shift and reverse lockout solenoids are on that circuit.

hell yeah, i checked out that fuse and it was indeed blown, i replaced it and now the shifter works perfect, took it for a drive to go get a haircut and it hasnt re-blown so im guessing the o2 harness is still good.
