Default Cylinder 5 misfire...HELP

I have been getting a Cylinder 5 misfire for some odd reason. It started about 120 miles ago, and it only does it when im in 5th or 6th gear, around 1500rpms. I just installed my Hooker long tubes and While I did that, I put in some new iridium plugs. Well, I also changed around all the coil packs and plug wires when I did the header install, thinking maybe if it was a bad wire or coil, It would show up on the other cylinder that I moved them too...which didnt happen.

My question is, If its not my plug, wire, or coil causing a misfire on cylinder 5, could it be a bad injector??? Thats the only other thing that makes any sense to me...but why is it only doing a misfire at idle, and 1200-1700 rpms in 5th and 6th gears??

well if you already swapped plug wires and coil packs that i would say you have a bad injector.

Well maybe you have more going on...

Swap the injector to another cylinder first to see if you get a misfire in that cylinder. The injector might not be spraying well and at lower rpm's it doesn't have enough pressure to spray well. I thonk this may be the iss on my girlfriends '04 Explorer.

We have seen a few '01 cars lately having problems in the #5 hole. Ringlands are cracking and if they go to long will just get worse. See threads below... Do a compression test to check.

Hopefully just a bad injector and not like below...

Are you SURE you know where the #5 cylinder is? I only ask because I was having a bastard of a time with my father's BMW 740iL. It had a misfire on cylinder #1. I did EVERYTHING that you could think of and it didn't go away. Turns out, on BMWs, the #1 cylinder is in the front left if you're facing the car. Bad coil pack.

maybe a burnt wire on those headers, i know i have one thats melting away, i couldnt see you having a bad injector since your car ran fine before, i doubt its a burnt valve as well

like I said...started doing it before the header install. NO plug wires are touching my headers....The Hooker headers have very good clearance...It is NOT a plug or wire issue

Car runs like a Raped ape at all RPMS and doesnt act like a misfire or a low compression issue in any cylinder at all....I only know its misfiring, because my SES is telling me so. If that wasnt up, I wouldnt have a clue. Car is not having any blue smoke issues...only smoke that comes out is a black puff when Im WOT and shift...other then that, its clear.

From a post above...I know exactly where cylinder 5 is...

well, if you have already swapped plugs, wire, coil packs and injectors with another cylinder and the problem doesnt move/or go away that leaves mechanical(heads, valves, piston, rings ect....) or electrical(pcm wiring, corroded connector, rotted wire, pinched wire, or pcm corrosion...ect..)

does a scanner show your sensors operating in a normal function?
maybee a out of wack dirty maf? bad o2's? combination of any?

good luck
