Default Powdercoated some intakes!

A friend said this couldn't be done so I did some research on powder coating a composite part. It wasn't easy but I coated an LS1 intake I had laying around to see if it was doable. The red one is the first one I did and it came out so nice that a friend asked if I could do his LS6 in white. I love the way it came out. I wish I had pictures of it installed on his white SS but I don't yet. Here they are, enjoy!

Doesn't the part need to be heated to 400-500 degrees? Nothing melted?

no, nothing melted, in fact the sponges underneath the intake are still intact. I just had to be VERY careful with it.

Gotcha. I would be interested in seeing how well it holds up over time.

Looks good!

what do you mean YOU had to be very careful with it? Did you do the powder coating yourself?

You have an oven and the materials needed?

if so... AWESOME!

they look great! Especially that white one!

I've always wanted to see what a White/Black one would look like if every other runner was powder coated White/Black... I think that would look sick!

Would you be willing to share how you powdercoated them? Did you just heat them like normal, or were there other steps?

I had heard that it was possible and have seen pictures of peoples PC'd FAST intakes so I figured I'd try it out for myself. I had an extra LS1 intake for a guinea pig and it came out great! My buddy with the white SS thought it was awesome so we tried it on his LS6 and he's happy as hell with the results. I have no idea how much something like that would cost but I do know it took me over four hours to coat. Another friend from a local board wants me to coat his FAST and I know it can be done so pics will be posted when it's finished.

Are there any extra steps or precautions to take when you do these or do you coat them just like you do anything else?
