Default confused!>? EGR??

Ok stock 99 z28 i live in california. SMOG!! soo i noticed that 01' - 02' f-bodys (i think) dont have an egr. so i was wondering if i could DELETE IT?
i just bought a used LS6 intake (12573572) it doesnt have the hole over the inlet for the EGR. am i screwed?
how did they do it for those years to bypass the egr?

need to know asap. Im going to buy LT pacesetters tomorrow and need to know if i should get with or w/o EGR.

The 01/02 cars have a different cam..slightly smaller.. which allowed EGR to be removed and still pass emissions.

I always delete AIR and EGR on my cars and get the "race" versions that don't have the fittings for it. But with you being in California, don't know how well that would work.

The LT's will present a bigger problem for smog than the lack of EGR. But LPE (Lingenfelter Performance) used to make an adapter for the LS6 intake that would allow for EGR (or the appearance thereof). You might check on that item.

This is true. They got the truck cam from I believe the 5.3 liter.

You can delete your EGR and AIR entirely, but you will have to get them tuned out as well. You wont pass smog, but you are getting longtubes so it wont matter. I hope you ' know ' someone that can smog it

if you have a shop that is PICKY as hell and sees in the book or listing that the car is listed with an EGR and Air injection and they look for it , which I have never seen, they only plug the car up and look for CATS and 02 sensors.

SO in that sense you can completely tune out and remove the air stuff and EGR stuff.

By completely tune out I mean ALL the DTC's and MIL statuses of ANY codes associated with the EGR and AIR injection. the reason I say this is there are quite a few of them and they are scattered out. A LOT of people miss one or two and flash their car and wonder why the SES light is still on

you can get EGR block off plates from WS6store.com just unhook the EGR thing and then put the block off plate there and seal it with some rtv or something, you would also have to got LS6 coolent lines or mod the bottom of your LS6 intake to get it to fit over the old lines. i wouldnt get a fast tb unless you had a fast intake, you could just get a ported and polished stock one, there pretty cheap too and you can tell a difference in throttle response. no need to not use the intake you bought.

Default Hmm?

ok so the EGR and AIR is just a visual inspection then? it has nothing to do with what is coming out of the exhaust? it wont release too much crap and yada yada..? Remember CALIFORNIA!! BOO! if i block off both without tune will it run like sh*t?

Default LS6 EGR adapter

We are hoping to soon re-release our EGR adapter for the LS6 intake manifolds. Should be in a couple weeks.

i live in california and can tell you it will fail. the underhood label says EGR and thats what most shops use. it will fail because it doesnt have it. then during the test their computer will actuate the EGR and it wont see any difference in NOx. it will fail.

just find someone who knows someone who knows someone...

also, the egr does serve a purpose in your car other than emissions, it lowers your combustion chamber temperatures, which aids in the longevity of your valves, rings & gaskets. If this is a frequently driven vehicle remember that.... the AIR is simply for catalyctic warm up & emissions though so have at it.
