Default how to run Dual Exhaust?

Is it ok to run two 3 inch pipes back from my long tube headers, with gutted cats and gutted glasspack mufflers. In every picture I see in the dual exhaust FAQ, all the dual exhaust systems are either are X- pipe systems or H-pipe systems. Would one of those system be more beneficial (horsepower or torque wise) then just running two straight pipes. What sould I do??? My car is about 400 rwhp n/a and 500 rwhp with nitrous

it helps balance the exhaust out with an x or h in it, i think most the people here would advise it.

The crossover pipe results in more power.

Although, there is nothing wrong with running two straight pipes to the mufflers.

generally the theory is that the scavenging affects of the Xpipe build more power.
while the H pipe still makes great power, most say that it sounds better than the Xpipe.

the power difference is likely not measurable on most applications.

An H-pipe will give you a deeper sound and I've heard it gives you better under the curve power than an X-pipe. dont quote me on that though. The X-pipe gives you slightly more peak power though. Either one is better than having straight pipes with no crossover, unless you like that sound better, most dont, but it's really all up to you.

right now i have a borla y-system with 3 inch pipe. I'm trying to figure out if it's even worth changing over to a new system. I have a electric cut-out on my car right now and it is loud as ****. Any advice???

you could probably sell your y-pipe, borla catback and your cut-out and off-set the cost of the true duals a good bit. it's your call though, unless you just dont like the way it sounds right now, i wouldn't change it.

and if you think your catback is too loud now. your going to wanna run your duals all the way out the back. i've had dumped TD's and TD's out the back and i wish i would have ran them out the back the first time. just too much drone and vibrations which cause rattles with dumped TD's.
