Default Thinking about an underdrive pulley(s)...

I did a search. Found a lot about what to expect and whether or not its worth it. But, I am pretty set on getting one. What I am really wondering is which one (brand) to go with. I was seriously considering the SLP pulley with the higher retention walls. But I also saw that a lot of guys have the ASP pulley. I want to get this ordered and installed by next week, so quick responses would help. Thanks!

Can't speak for the others but check out my thread with the Summit. Very nice unit!

seems nice. looks a little heavier though. how are the walls on the pulley? any deeper than stock? my belt has been jumping off a little lately. I'm pretty sure i need a new tensioner. so i ordered one and will be putting it on in a couple days. but i want to make sure itll never happen. So, how deep the pulley is, is a big deal for me.

Any Steel SFI dampner is probably going to be heavy. It looks like about 1/2" lip on the Summit piece. Don't know how deep the stocker is.

Love my ASP. Might want to invest in a Katech tensioner at some point though.

Powerbond pulley here with stock tensioner. Same as SLP, but cheaper.

The Summit pulley works well for the money. It does have a slight bit of runout noticable when idling. I beat the crap out of mine constantly to 6000rpm. No problem yet. Make sure you get the smaller alternator pulley to go with it or you will have voltage problems at idle.

Kinda confusing to me that the steel underdrive pulleys are heavier than the stock one. isnt the stock one cast iron?
And who sells this Powerbond pulley?

I have the Powerbond pulley on my car and have been very happy with it. Same as SLP but less $$$. Got mine at SDPC along with the belts and crank bolt.

Yep, we sell the powerbond pulley along with the two shorter drive belts you need and a new crank bolt. Send me a pm if you need more info!

We've got the ASP in stock also. What I like about it is that it's a good bit lighter than the Powerbond! The ASP weighs in around 8.5lbs, whereas the Powerbond is about 12lbs. That's nearly 50% heavier than the ASP

We do sell plenty of both though. Just though I'd lay out the biggest difference between the two so you have all the information

Ouch!

You did spur me to weight a Powerbond, 10.6x pounds, that's 25% heavier. Who's counting though? We aren't in the parts business to do math. . .

j/k, friendly joking. They are both great pulleys and well worth the upgrade no matter which route you go

I stand corrected...10.6 it is then! I haven't weighed them in ages! I don't think you can go wrong with either pulley
