quietest high flow muffler
i live in SoCal,
so i might get duals w/ cutouts after the X,
and run mufflers after the cutouts.
since i will go big cam,
i dont want to choke the car up when i have to be quiet
dont even mention dynomax bullets
cat converters will reduce noise better
any ideas?

SLP Dual Dual vote,Love mine! As far as flow goes,I saw on here the other day where one of the better known memebers (can't remember who),dyno'd 525 w/cutout open & 510 w/cutout closed with a dual dual.
I beleieve there is a set-up in the for sale sect. now with a cutout for $275.
Just me .02 cents.

guys i dont think you can fit the dualdual in a X-pipe.
Run cats for sure if you want to knock out alot of sound. I like the borla xr1's

Any ideas regarding something (mufflers) to place right after the cut-outs, right after the X-pipe.
Bullets would be the usual choice but he specifically ruled them out.
The dual/dual, being a catback, is also ruled out (inferred).

Re: quietest high flow muffler
I have an all 3 inch x with bullets/turndowns and its louder than hell. Dynomax ultraflo will flow good because they are straight through, but will be pretty loud. My plan is to cut out the bullets and weld dynomax super turbos in thier place. They may restrict flow slightly, but since there will be 2 of them to divide up the flow, I don't expect to lose much power. The super turbos are also relatively small. I think they are 4.5x9x14 so there should be enough room to tuck them in under the car right in fromt of the axle. I especially wouldn't worry too much about muffler flow for the track if you're running dual cutouts before the mufflers.

i agree with jorday. if you have dual cutouts i would be more worried about a light but quiet muffler. once you bypass it the muffler will just become dead weight and not offer any gain/loss beyond the fact that its heavy.

Re: quietest high flow muffler
I vote for the SLP dual-dual, the ones that came stock on the firehawks are quieter than the ones offered through SLP now...I'm running FLP headers through ORP's through the dual-dual, its a smooth loudness when WOT, nothing raspy...

Re: quietest high flow muffler
I'm planning for the same thing (minus the cut-outs), and I'm going to go with 2 18" bullets before the axle, and 2 pitbull or hooker or ultra-flow mufflers before normal exit.
Yes, Dynomax Super turbos are the quietest-high-flow muffler, but they still route air and are not straight through; according to their site you lose ~300 cfm, and after a few months the cheap fiberglass will wear out and they will increase in sound. Still, a great bang at $30.
Here is a chart I found at ls1.com a while back, FWIW:
