Default ls-6 intake manifold install

I tried to do an ls-6 intake manifold install but halfway through literally I found the ls-6 wont fit. So I searched and found that I need to buy different coolant lines or grind it. I would rather grind it if I only have to do a little, just the thought of doing so scares me. So far I had to put everything back to stock and my hands look like I put them through a weed whacker for nothing. I can't believe how easy everyone says the install is, without mentiong-oh by the way you need some different coolant lines. So what have you guys done, and literally how much did you have to grind away, or how much does it cost for new lines?

If you search you'll find a couple pics of some already grinded down.

i agree, the swap is a little more difficult than it seems when reading posts. Just do a little research and figure out everything you need before taking stuff off. Good luck though.

Damn your a fast chiseler! Took me a half hour, but I was taking my time since it was a brand new LS6 intake. I took ALL the ridges off, flush. Make sure your chisel is good and sharp(sharpened an old one with a die grinder), take your time and save yourself 50 buckaroos.

Nope. Instead of measuring where I needed to chisel them off I just went to town and cracked all of them off. Worked perfect.

well I broke the oil pressure sending unit (I guess I had to break it to find out how to not do it again next time), so my car is down until I get it fixed. Hey DARKHORSE SS how did you get the broken unit off I couldnt see anywhere to pull out the bottom portion of it.

its not hard to get to. You can remove it with a crescent wrench and reinstall the new one pretty quickly with the intake out of the way. Just be careful.

Update I installed and drove it around today. I over torqued the bolts that attach the throttle body to the manifold thankfully I had extra and getting them out is alot easier than if I had done that to the bolts that go to the heads. I'm gettin the tune this thursday she needs it. The only thing is when i took out the air I must have capped the wrong hole because now my ac doesn't work. The vent on the dash works but none of the others do. I can hear it working just no air coming out-just another 100 for the guys at newtech to fix for me. Other wise she's driveable and the headers and duals will be on by thursday!

There's a vacumn line that plugs into the back of the intake. It comes from the pass. side rear by the pcm. That's why your hvac isnt working right.

Yep, the big one is for the booster. The small 1/4" one is for ac vacumn. It controls how the ducts open and close.

You can go to a Junkyard and if you're fortunate enough, you can get some from a wrecked Late-model Truck.
