Default Is my Y pipe banging?

Hey all I just need help IDing a noise issue...
When I start my car nothing at all. revs up, drops and then comes back up to idle, just like everyone else right? Ok I back up, nothing, but then when i put it into first and start to accelerate while turning(either left or right) there is a very loud banging sound coming from under my floor, and itll keep banging until about 2000rpm, then it goes away. Itll just pop up sometimes while Im driving around too, mostly at lower RPM's.
I might try replacing my motor and trans mounts with poly when I get home, but Im worried about making the car uncomfortable to drive with vibrations and such. Thanks fellas.

yes....if you have headers and y pipe, chances are it bangs. Poly mounts will fix it 90% of the time. Sometimes you may need to adjust the fitment of the Y pipe too. My car does it as well, and it drives me crazy but I don't have the time to do the mounts right now.

So how do you all like the ploy mounts? How does it change the car at idle and during cruising/hard driving?

The poly engine mounts are nice, no vibration at all from them. They keep the motor from moving around a lot & a must after installing LT headers. I dont recommend the poly trans mount, that will make the car vibrate terribly. I took mine out & put the stock one back in.

Ive been told that the poly motor mounts transfer alot more engine movement into the car than the stockers, and can make it unpleasant to drive.

No, not at all. After I installed mine it felt just like regular stock mounts. Do a search on it.

I think poly motor mounts are a must install when doing headers since they are so much easier to get to when the exhaust is out of the way. Do them, and don't look back. You may get a little extra vibration at first, but they will settle in and the vibration will go away. I'm about to re-install my trans poly mount as well. If you trim it, it will be fine as well.

I have poly mounts, headers, and ory and no banging at all and no vibrations. It feels just like driving with the stock mounts in. I would do it if i were you.

Poly motor mounts, stock trans mount here. I noticed nearly no change in vibration inside the car.

this is ghetto but hey it works. get some 1in or close to heater hose. then a cheap *** clamp that will fit around the y-pipe. then just thread the clamp through the hose and place it where it hits. it worked for me and its lasted a while. no banging. nada. its only until motor mounts are installed..... that not probly until next summer.....

An even better cheap fix is to use a broken valve spring and place it between the ypipe and body. It acts as an exhaust shock absorber....

people who spread that myth are pussies and suck at life. it's very minimal at most. if you don't want to feel the engine, they don't buy a muscle car.
