Default cat question? cheating the system?

Just wondering if anyone has taken off a cats heat sheild and welded it to a test pipe to make it look as if there was a cat there. I am thinking of doin this so I can pass inspection? Any words of advice?

just take them off...gut the things...or atleast poke someholes thru them....and bolt them back up....
I'd even sell ya mine if you wanted...I dont need 'em anymore now that got LT's and dual exhaust.

Yes, you can drop the cats and put a test pipe in, but who will be fooled by a 'test pipe'?

It will substantially change the exhaust note buy just 'gutting them,' not recommended.

If you only have to solve the visual problem, then engineer the welding of a tube to match the inside inlet and outlet of the gutted cat.

The sound will not change as much but you will have achieved your goal.

If you do not have a state inspection then I would say go with the test pipes, but if you have to worry about an inspection then it does not matter if the heat shields are still there because when they plug it up to that computer it will show ou have no cats.

Well guys I am in Virgina, and we have annual state inspections. But the kicker is they dont co anything but a visual check for the cats. I really want to put long tubes on, is there anyway to have lts and still have cats? or is that just a stupid idea. I dont really want shortys, but if thats what I have to go with so be it.

Why not Random Technologies Mettallic Cats? They flow/sound really good.

If you only have a visual inspection then like Zeta said, just take off the cat, cut it in half lengthwise, take out the catalyst, and weld it back together around a straight pipe...

cut off your cats and poke a 3 inch pipe through your cats, so the cats will hang in a since on the pipe, and weld it to your exhaust, looks like you have cats, but don't
