K-member grinding question...
OK so my new jot hot headers clear my K-member by about 1/4" on the drivers side. I know that my motor used to move over 1" when torqued because of past experience with a DS loop. While installing headers I installed a poly motor mount on the drivers side.
I still cant button everything up because looking at this clearance makes me sure it will bang even with the poly mount.
Those of you familiar with the K-member know it is 2 pieces of steel sandwiched together.
The place I need to trim will probubly go though the weld between the two pieces about 1/2" deep and be about 1-1/2" long. The place it is rubbing is on the round area where the suspenstion bolts. Should I go ahead and do this or is a smaller grind and some attitude adjustment with a crowbar more safe?
Please help this is my first install and I have handled all previous problems like a pro but this one makes me worried.

Grinding will take you a week. Saws-all type tool works the best, you can be done in a minute or two. Just clearance it in that radius and don't give it a second though, no problem.

Re: K-member grinding question...
Well I will have to spend a week cause all I have is a grinder but thanks for the advice.
It shouldnt take too long though. I only have a small area to grind.
Thanks

Re: K-member grinding question...
It is the stock K-member. I gournd it down with a grinder to clear my headers. Next I painted it. I think this is going to work out well. I have about 1"+ of clearance now.

Re: K-member grinding question...
I didnt have to grind the K member for the headers to fit in. I had to grind it for clearance of the headers. Our motors twist at least 1" with stock motor mounts so if you only have a little clearance you are sure to bang your pipes.

I ground mine slightly in order to get my TR driver side header to go in more easily. I had to fight with that one for a while to get it in there.

Re: K-member grinding question...
When installing my Hooker headers I came across this very problem and I must say I thought that grinding was in my future. However after bolting up my ORY it pulled and held the driver's side header away from the k-member just enough for my peace of mind. The ORY also helped with the Oxygen sensors that were close to important lines by pulling the whole header away from them.
