Cold Oil=Happy, Warm Oil=tick, tick, tick
Yeah, I know that this subject has been beat to death, but I will add my story. I am 99% sure I know what is wrong, but I want to get some opinions anyways.
When I first start the engine, everything sounds great. Normal sewing machine noise, but otherwise quiet. As the engine temp comes up, I hear a defenitive tick, and It gets louder and louder as the eninge warms up. It is very noticible from both inside and outside the vehicle. The sound appears to originate from lower in the engine, near the......lifter area.
Any similar experiences?

I had the same thing on a stock high mileage LS1. Cold=good, warm=bad. When I got it apart I had a lobe wiping on the cam. I figured that the lifter was losing prime here and there and finally starting to damage the cam.
It wouldn't be that hard to pull the cam and take a look at the lobes
