Sorry for not chiming in guys.... Been quite busy at the shop!!!! Just to clear the air on a few things.....

* This engine was built because the customer wanted something UNIQUE. A 495 cubic inch LS motor is quite rare and thats what the customer wants... Something that everyone else doesnt have.

* This combo was put together using carefully selected parts to meet our goals... We arent after max effort power. We arent trying to break records. We are going to provide our customer with a reliable/street worthy combo that looks almost OEM under the hood. No sheet metal intakes/cutting up the cowl etc etc... This will be PURELY a street motor. It will be bottle necked with a Ported FAST Intake and air will exit VIA American Racing Longtubes with full exhaust. It will be run on pump gas and tuned as such.

TFS heads were chosen not only because we believe they are the best on the market, but because we have PROVEN them to make more power than LS7 heads.. ESPECIALLY under the curve where it counts...

There are hundreds of ways we could have built this engine, but we chose to build it how our customer wanted it... It is his after all

We have an idea on dyno #s, but we arent overly concerned to be completely honest. When we get the engine installed/tested we will post up. Right now, due to shop backlog its going to be several weeks before we get it in the car. I will be sure to post up the results... Good or bad

Thanx everyone who has subscribed and who is genuinely interested in this build. I definately feel like this is a unique build and Im as anxious as some of you to see the results!!!

Thanks for the update Ron. 495 ci's is a lot brother, and with that huge 4.5 stroke. Can we speculate that this thing makes 500 rwtq at 2500 rpms ?? Talk about get out of the hole grunt !!!

Thats great that the shop is doing exactly what the customer wants, especially since the customer is paying them to do it. On the flip side the numbers may not be MAX numbers due to parts selected by the customer most likely will differ from what Ron would select if they wrere chasing PEAK numbers VS reliability. At any rate Ron is a great guy and I am sure he will make the most out of what is given to him and I still expect some pretty good numbers out of 495 ci's even if its being choked by a ported 92mm FAST and 95mm tb.
That's not entirely true. But, you would have to be a fool not to take the recommendations of YOUR engine builder. Ultimate power is not the concern. Nor is bling. It will be steetable but listening to it idle will give a real hot rodder wood.

LOL
they would probably do a first pull with the stock tune

BUT some other posters have made some good statements, teh owner paying the bill might have limited what would have been done if builder had been giving an open playing field.

either way, i still expect 550+ on the first pull

What is this "rare" F-body this motor is going in? How rare is it? Are the stock driveline components being kept so they can be put back in the car at a later date? Or is this not "that" rare of a car?

Update? Will get the 22 mile, '02 Blk, 6sp SS around the end of the month. Knowing Vengeance the car will be fully built, tuned and ready to scorch earth within 10 days. Got a set of 18X9.5 Fikses from Matt M. a few weeks ago. All that's left to do is pick out the tires.

Vengeance will set the OE SS wheels and tires and the engine and clutch assembly. Brand of shifter is still in question. The last Pro 5.0 I had felt sloppy as did the Hurst and I believe a B&M. So the hunt begins for a good tight shifter.

I don't know if the 245s were available at this point. I probably would have stepped up to those also.

Guys the reason we have not updated the post is GM High Tech is doing a complete Install Tech article on the engine and car. It should be out in the next month or so. Car is built and running fine. It will be at the Gathering if weather is good and GRB (Customer) wants it there.

Car is BADASS!!!
