Price and the lobes it looks like. The thread right next to this will explain that all. Not the exact same cam, but it will be close.
RJF, you can't really know the TR230 specs exactly unless they tell you all of them. (which they don't)
Alot of it depends on what you are looking for in the cam, more lift, less lift, longer spring and lifter life etc.

918 springs. They are good for 620 lift and they are lighter. They have a bee hive design and the retainers are half the weight. Also, you might wnat to use an XE-R lobe. It's more aggressive and has more lift. How high do you want to tack the car? Are you going with a 230/224, 230/227 or 230/230?

The cam is a lot cheaper Im getting a very very good deal. Im wanting the 230/224 as far as tacking it just enough to get the power band right without reving to high

I just bought a TR230 for $250 (used w/ 3000 miles) on ebay. Keep an eye on the parts for sale section of this site.

I would use 918 springs with that cam, even if you do chose to go with something like a XER 230/224 cam.

I would save up some scratch and buy everything you need from Thunder. If you have ANY problems they are there to take care of you etc.

RJF, the cool thing about using the 918's is that you can save some money by using the stock retainers. These would be your most economical spring and they hold to .600 lift.

If you want cheap and dirty then go with the hotcam kit. 400 bucks and you get the springs and stuff.

Then when you can afford it get the H/C package you really want and sell the hotcam.
