Default Few simple LQ4 questions

Hey guys. I just bought a 05 LQ4 and I was wondering if it came with:
1.) A different block than the LS1..and im not talking about it being iron instead of aluminum.
2.) If it had an LS6 PCV and oiling system (talking about what I read on ls1howto.com
3.) Which timing chain do I have?
4.) Lastly, I was was wondering if there was any site that has a list of which parts were put on which motor from the factory..

Let me know. Thanks for your help,
Sam

1) yes. block is different iron casting 4.00 bore
ls1 is alloy casting with press in liners
2) no. conventional pcv system and oiling system
ls6 used higher pressure spring in pump and vented valley cover.
if your valley cover does not have a vent tube, its not ls6 type
3) gen 3 single conventional, check to confirm
4) not sure, but just about any LSx performance/rebuilding book will have the info u need. plus your block uses short head bolts.

So would a LS2 timing chain set work no problem? What is the significance of shorter head bolts, or why do you bring that up?

the block uses all same lenght bolts for large bolts
some earlier 6.0 blocks used 2 sizes length bolts for large head bolts.

In regards to the head bolts, in 2003 GM changed the head bolts size to one length. Previously it was setup that the two outer head botls were a different length. Being a 2005 you do not have to worry about it, just get the head bolts for that year, either ARP or GM.

Everything from any V8 Gen3 engine will bolt up to the LQ4, the only difference is as pointed out: Iron block and 4.00" bore. Do not worry about what was installed on (like if maybe the LS2 chain, or LS6 valve springs, etc ...).

if you do the ls6 pcv setup you will not need to cut on the block to make it fit. all you need is the ls6 valley cover and you are good to go.

'05 LQ4's has a LS2 timing chain already on it along with cam sprocket. it has the solid phaser bar style sprocket instead of the one with the holes in it. I know since I just put a '05 LQ4 in my silverado
