Comp 228/230 to a 228R any gain?
Right now I have the comp 228/230 571/573 and from time to time I hear an abnormal tick that could be a lifter so if I end up tearing it down I was thinking of changing cams also. Is the 228R really any gain over the cam i have now? The main reason I ask is because I am hoping to be able to run my current tune since I'm not very good at tuning cams. I had it tuned for the cam I'm running now and it drives about like a stock car would. I had my eye on the torquer 2 but I'm sure I would have to do some changing on the tune. Biggest problem is that there aren't any tuners around here at all. So would the 228R even be worth the upgrade?

Would this still be the case if you're considering pulling out a reverse split 230/227 .591/.571 112+2 and going with a traditional split with something like 228/232 .588/.595 112+4 on a car with nice heads and ported FAST?

With stock valves, if you've got enough PTV clearance on the intake side, how much more duration can you run on the exhaust side without having to worry? I mean I'd think if my 230/227 clears fine than a 230/236 should be ok too since I'd only be adding duration on the exhaust side?
