The entire reason I am not going with the t3 is because of the .643 lift. I do not want a lift that hight because it will torture my entire valvetrain. Any other cams that make big power, but are easier on the valvetrain than the t3?

Torquer v.2 is a great cam.

That is what I am going to go with when I get another LS1.

Default can some one from Texas speed chime in on this question

The torquer v.3 is my main cam choice right now also. Can soem one from Texas speed chime in and let us know what is the expected valve spring life with a torquer v.3 cam? I have your PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads with the prc dual valve springs. What do you guys think the expected valve spring life will be? I know there are factors involved but for a street driven car with an occasional outing to the track and some playing on the street here and there and also letting the valve train warm up before any reving above 2500-3000 rpms.
I ran the v.3 cam before with a set of ported 99 ls1 heads and a fast 78mm intake and the car was very strong all the way through the rpm range. The only time I ever took that car to the track it was on regular sumitumo street tires and it ran 7.50s in the 1/8 leaving really easy. The car was an auto with a 3800 converter and I basiclly had to leave at an Idle to get it to keep it from blowing the tires off so it had way more in it on a set of sticky tires.

I would recommend checking your spring pressures around 15,000 miles just to make sure you are alright, but I would expect to get at least 20,000 miles out of a PRC dual spring kit with the torquer v.3.

I have a cam like the TV3 and love it i have a 4000 stall stock heads and fast 90/90 and ran 11.94 in the 1/4 and the car was shifting at 5900 rpms (car was shifting into o.d. 100 ft be4 the line).... going to throw a set of heads on it and uped the rpms already to 6400 rpms should be mid to low 11's at full weight

How much more expensive is a dual spring kit as opposed to just a regular spring kit. Why do they call them dual springs?

They call them dual springs b/c they are dual springs. Its a spring inside of another spring just do a google image search if it sounds confusing lol. I found patriot gold dual valvesprings with titanium retainers, steel locks, seats, and seals for 255.00 at ws6store.com. I'm in the exact same boat as you right now and im leaning towards the Tourquer v2 with the patriot gold dual springs, ls6 oil pump, and ls2 timing chain.

From what every one has told me if your going to go with the torquerv.2 you might as well just go with the v.3 because it is basicly the same cam and will have the same effect on the valve train.
I have ran the torquer v.3 and loved it. Its a great cam but with the new 2002 ss with only 54,000 miles on it I want it to stay together for a while.

I just don't like the idea of the extra lift the t3 has over the t2. It will be too much stress on the whole valvetrain in my opinion.

I love my torquer II, went 11.36 first run on this setup, and that was on a slipping clutch, and slow shifting.... Had patriot stage 1 heads as well, and an ls6 intake.. 420 rwhp mustang dyno..

so what your telling me is that, if I went with the torquer 2 cam and dual valve springs. I would have to get it checked every 15k miles?? I want a cam that I can put it in my car and drive it? Is that possible?

Driving style has a lot to do with spring life. if you WOT your mess all the time you will dramaticlly shorten spring life.

On the other hand there have been a couple guys I have seen on here saying their springs (PP,PRC doubles IIRC) were still within spec at 50k running a pretty agressive X-ER lobe.

Having said that it is not a bad idea to pull a couple every so often and have them checked.
