I have done a lot of reading about lifter trays and I guess I am confused on which ones to actually get. I am doing PRC 5.3 2.5 heads over the winter, and I need to know which trays to go with , LS1, LS2, LS7? What are the differences between them?
My car has 24,000 miles on it.
Thanks,

LS1 or LS2 style will work in an LS1, but only LS2 trays work in LS2's. This is because there is a notch in the LS2 style that must be there to clear on the LS2 block, however, since there is no need for a notch on the LS1's, either style will work. So, get whichever one is cheaper.

The '05 iron block would have had the Gen3/LS1 trays from the factory. But as stated above, you could use the LS2 trays if you'd like!

I have not seen any real advantage of the LS2 tray over the LS1 trays. On the internet, there is a theory that the LS2 pieces are stronger, but I doubt that came from any real testing or solid data.
They are very inexpensive, so I think it is a good thing to replace them when you've got the heads off. I've talked to way too many people who had stock trays crack or whatever, and have to replace alot of parts when the lifter spun in the tray.
