Default 400rwhp possible with my goals?

I've been looking to get rid of my 02 A4 z28 to get a 01-02 m6 z28/ss for a better starting point. I'd like to hit 400rwhp while still passing NYS inspection, not losing noticable mpg and you could hear it has a cam but daily drivability near stock. A P1sc1 is a little out of my price range and I'll worry about the pos 7.5 inch after it goes. Thanks.

I was considering the CheaTR cam/head package but would like a tr224 114 idle sound.

Get ready to open your wallet!! The package you see on my sig made 380 RWHP that is what it takes unless you spray and prey!

ported stock heads should pass emissions
a small cam should pass
good high flow cats

not sure 400rwhp is quite possible...but you can get close.

figure an ls6 cam upgrade should get you 360 or so with shorties.
not sure how the 224 is to tune for emissions.

The lsa has a lot to do with passing emissions as well as having a cammed sound. I'm not sure if you can have both, but I've been wrong before. In the meantime I would try to see if there are any connections to be made about getting a pass at your local garage or what have you.

i would say something like a 224 cam and maybe some good heads like PRC 5.3 will definitely push u over 400+rwhp. i think the 224 cam is the biggest u can go while passing inspection. i know for the CA guys 224 is what most suggested for passing inspection.

ls6 intake
cheaTR
1 7/8" TSP headers
electric WP
UD pulley
and a real good tune and you should be able to eek out 400rwhp...but who cares. take it to the track where it matters. i could care less if a dyno read out 394rwhp instead of 400rwhp...no big deal, thats a drivers race. someone with 400rwhp wouldnt walk you.

Ok, thanks for responces. So AFR205s with anything bigger than the cheatr cam and more overlap won't pass an inspection it sounds like? I would consider doing the following since it sounds like the tr224 doesn't have a problem passing.

Catted LT's with y-pipe, TR224 114 cam, ported TB (if needed), SLP intake, ASP underdrive, Vettedoctors dynotune (they really know what they are doing) loudmouth or other catback. on a 2001/2002 M6.

That would all be in my price range I want to spend but does it look like 390-400rwhp? Anything else recommended? Thanks.

950 for a cam and installation? Sounds pretty good. I'm in kings park and went there a couple times with LIFBA for dyno days.
