Im looking to build a twin turbo set up for this car to make about 700 horse. Any suggestions on what heads and all that i need to look into... As of right now im looking at buying a nice set of pistons and rods... Just dont know where to start after that. look into the 317 heads for boost- cost effective and work. Partiot peformance, or TSP are good to start with. You can cheap out a bit on rods, just make sure they have the ARP2000 bolts in. The main concern is the pistons with Boost. You may want to stick with the major brands and also look into the different coatings now offered for the pistons.

My buddy has a 86 stang with a lq9 in it and it will definatly move out when he gets it done. He has also done a 93 stang swap.

start looking at the suspension. I know with the 4cy springs in the front the car still sits too high. Also I suggest getting a K-member that works with the ls1/mustang.

Yeah i was actually looking at a set of 317's. What kinda compression should i stay around for boost? I think im going to try and stay around 10-14lbs with this block till i get a cast iron one down the road. Im just trying to get this car going. It will also be a street car.

For suspension ive got a mini tub kit for the rear and a narrowed 9"... but the front ill be buying a AJE Racing crossmember... ill have to post some pics once i get going. Just looking for a little info on the LS1 side.

ya the AJE is a very good piece. The 317's will lower your compression to under 10.0 I can't remember the exact comrpression, but it ends up being good for boost. There are a lot of guys running these heads on stock 346 and hitting 10 pounds of boost. At that point it all comes down to tuning. Really anything over that is just a bomb waiting to happen.

so will i need to run stock head gaskets? and not mill the heads or anything like that and my comp raito will be alright? What cc pistons would i need to run. Im looking at some diamonds. for the car... and ill prob. got with eagle rods with arp 2000 studs for my bottom end.

If you go with a built motor- at least pistons. then you can mill the heads as you can take down the compression in the pistons. If you only replace the pistons make sure you change out the rod bolts to the arp 2000 or katec rod bolts. The eagle rods with the upgraded bolts will work just fine.

I would give some of the engine builders a ring for what they reccommend- TSP, EPP, speed inc. come to mind that have built some motors for boost.

The stock MLS 5 layer gaskets will work just fine, and are actually pretty good. also get some head studs.
