How exactly are some people getting 420+rwhp/410+rwtq...
Whats the secret to getting 420+rwhp and 410+rwtq with stock heads? I saw this on another forum that someone made these #s on a set of stock heads. There has got to be something that makes these cars stand apart from the rest.....

I'd bet that the car is either a 2001-2002 car. May even have a LS6 block and probably has true duals, every bolt on and a stock rear in a M6 with a fairly big cam. I could see that combo on occasion getting up to 420 with stock heads.

well, I did 396 with a Hotcam and no programming. If I had had somethign like the G5X2 and was willing to deal with it's downsides and if I had LS1Edit, I might have made some incredible power. I picked up 10 rwhp from a y-pipe as well... and then there are EWPs and such.
If you want to go that nuts, you can make the peak HP number. The midrange and lower end werent that great though.
Take the 410-420 hp stock head car dyno graph and lay over it a 410-420 heads/cam car graph. See the difference?

The car you guys are talking about ran a 11.3 on stock heads and runs very strong at the track to back up the dyno numbers.

Why would I be freaking out? I just explained I could have gotten near there with a hotcam. Was it fun on the street? Not really. If you tell me you make 380 lbft at 2500 rpm... then Im thinking "thats a cool setup".

it was in no intention aimed at you, sorry about that. but i can say that i will set my dyno next to just about any heads/cam combo and mine has more or just as much under the curve. HP wise that is dont know about the TQ

I far as his et/mph go look at his race weight too (3400). Thats fairly light, without being gutted. My SS weighs 3700 without me(I weigh about 180). Driving ability has as great of an impact on drag racing as power, suspension and track conditions, if not more.

check those graphs again your is flat but take a look at a h/c car that makes 400+ and tell me what you see. i have about 50+rwhp and the higher the RPM the greater my HP goes up on you through out the whole RPM range. same goes with TQ except on the big end. you do have a nice looking graph though.

i dont know myself. we took a tsp 231/237 and made 406rwhp and i cant remember the tq, but that was just with a short belt thru a 12 bolt with 4.30 gears and 17 inch tt2's. im sure with a 10 bolt, drag lites, and maybe a cf driveshaft, we coulda hit the 420 mark.
i guess i just dont understand how its such a common place. we dynoed a hot cam car the other day and it only put down 374rwhp 376 rwtq with a stock 10 bolt.
there must be some timing curve that you are using that is different that i am probably using. but if the a/f is right, it is what it is.

Having an LS6 block over an LS1 block has no measureable horsepower differences. It's not that.

I would bet that very high in RPM it would make a difference in HP to have an LS6 block. Only a few HP but still less parasitic loss from oil knocking around.
