Damaged heads, are they repairable? Pics inside.
I have the opportunity to pick up a set of ported heads very cheap, but one of the chambers has a lot of damage. Is this repairable, how much do you think it would cost?
Thanks,
Eric

Thats nothing that won't buff out.
Seriously, it looks like one of those things that if you have a TIG, and know how to use it you could repair easily. However, having to pay someone else to do it, you might be better off buying undamaged heads.

it does not look all that bad.....what happened?
Depending on how much you are getting them for and how good of a port job they have, they could be a good deal. That cylinder would need to either be welded and re-machined or all the chambers need to be "ported out" (more cc's).

Alumium can be repaired much easier than cast iron....looks like you could have these fixed... obviously, you need some new valve seats,,,
...I've even seen the NHRA guys re-use alumium heads and blocks that have been heavily damaged....

Jeez... the heads on my car have looked worse than that a number of times :/
They always came back looking new. Sometimes some of the other chambers might need material removed and the head might need a tiny bit of milling to reatin a good CR. Nothing expensive.
Are they LS6 heads? I cant see that far. If thye arent, it may not be worth it. If they are...what the hell...the porting job should do alot of the cleaning up.
