Pewter00TA's dyno report
Brien is ill at the moment and asked me to post for him.
We dynoed his new JPRS2 Thunder Racing 224 cam package at JD's yesterday morning, couple little problems before we started but got them straightened out as best as possible. R1 O2 sensor tanked out Sunday night and quite noticably affected some performance 4 blackened plugs on the left bank, before the dyno session, I replaced the 02 sensor and began running the car, first pull was 417/389, @ 12.0-2 WB with 2-3 KR, I think it's false KR., I tweaked with the translator and noticed on A-tap that there is KR all the way through every dyno sample even at 12.9-13.0 WB I have no idea why it's pulling out timing right now? the best numbers duplicated 3 times in a row were 423/398 SAE with 2-3 KR across the rpm band with a total advance of 25 degrees. There is still room for improvement and we are going to get it back on the dyno in the next two weeks with edit. The SAE correction was 0.97 the uncorrected numbers were 435/409 and the STD was 433/409. Brien can come in and list all his modds when he can. I will have the sheet faxed out and posted soon.
Joe.

Nice numbers Joe . These are what I want (or more ) when you put the stage 2's in my car.

Re: Pewter00TA's dyno report
Thanks for posting for me Joe, I have felt like **** for the past couple days, but continue to press on.
I think part of my problem was the limited time the car had to "learn in" the new package. Fact is, much of the learn in was with a bad O2 sensor which I discovered on my way home from work Monday night. I found that my car was stumbling and had quite a bit of misfires on bank 1 along with a +25 ltrim value. I pulled the o2 as well as #1 and #3 plugs and all were caked with black soot to the point of completely covering the ceramic on the plug.
Well, with that fact, the car still pulled well on the dyno, but just wasn't responding like it should have to the translator adjustments. Talking to Joe today, we feel that the knock was most likely the computer trying to compensate for the previous 'crap' that it had learned in.
Joe wants me to romp on the car for a week or so, then get it back in for a complete ls1 edit session. Based on some early estimates we are probably leaving anywhere from 10-12hp and 8-10 on the table after Tuesday's initial runs.
Joel: Thanks for the kind words and suggestions. I honestly think the knock was true, but because of insufficient re-learn in rather than to low octane. A few tanks of Ultra 94 (wink wink) should clean out the injectors and plugs in no time.
I'm really excited about how the car feels. The tr224 cam actually idles smoother than my old lunatti 218/221 surprisingly. No surging or problems with startup or ac. We compared dyno runs from my previous s1/218 to the new s2/224 and I'm making 10 more ft/lbs at 2000 and 33 more at torque peak of 4800. I made a total of 47 more horsepower as well and my hp peak is still at 6250 compared to previously at 6150.
My old setup yeilded a 12.2 @ 117 (3680lbs, 1.99 60', 3.42s, street tires) so I'm hoping for a 11.8 or so @ 120, but traction will be an issue.
Thanks a million to Joe for putting me right in the hunt like he said he would all along as well as Tommy for helping do the install this past weekend. You guys are great.
I wish I had my dyno sheets to post, but I haven't felt good so I haven't had the opportunity nor the energy to scan em and post em.
Any questions feel free to ask. Joe or I can answer them.

Re: Pewter00TA's dyno report
Joe try alittle VP 103 unleaded in the tank just to make sure its false KR.Come by the store with a gas can before u guys dyno again and I'll sell ya 2 gallons to add to the pump gas. Then you'll know if its false KR..
Might be the sensor like u said or poss. a y-pipe hitting on the pull..
GREAT numbers for sure...
Good luck...

Re: Pewter00TA's dyno report
Sounds Good Brien. Glad to see the jump was worth it for ya. Speaking of the TR224 idleing, mine is 10,000 times better than the G5 I had. I almost couldn't use the review mirror at a stoplight because it was shaking so hard. Gotta love those single pattern cams. Good Luck.
