TEA head port stalling test #1, buy an LSX intake!
Well, instead of flowing my TEA heads w/ the LS6 intake on, and sending them out for re-porting, I just went ahead and bought the LSX intake (which will be shipped 6-10 weeks supposedly) and will see if there are dramatic results. If I gain the standard 15rwhp or so over the ls6 intake, I'll have the heads flowed with both intakes.
BTW, I can't find one person in AZ that knows how to flow the heads with the intake on.

I'm getting one too! Should open up the 427's breathing abilities. It's currently suffering from some chronic bronchitis .

Flow bench testing is at a steady state, not that close to real running test conditions. A flow bench hero is usually low on swirl and lower engine speed velocity, two bad qualities for street car accelleration. Let me know if you want any flow testing or comparisons done.

$795 with 80mm tb opening or $850 with 90mm.
looks like ill have to stick with the LS6 intake for a longggg time
That is not really that much money if intake delivers good power increase, my concern is that it looks very similar to LS6 intake, i hope it is internally much better. I would like intake to have runner length between Ls6 and Spyder stlye. A mid way compromise between the 2.

well, I'll be saving up while I watch others try out the intake
Remember all the hype about the Weiand/Holley intake? From what I can tell most of them are now somewhere in the "Parts for sale" section.
If its worth 15rwhp, Im past spending only 875$ on it.

I figure I sell my ls6 intake for about $300-$350, so I'm really only spending around $450 for this piece. I also took advantage of Thunder Racings double online discount for another $40 off to slightly lessen the pain from the raping I just endured.
Contrary to the Weiland, this thing will not heat soak, and is a 3 piece unit that allows for much easier porting. Port matching should be a breeze.
It even has a blow off plug for a reduction in nitrous backfire damage.
I'm still confused as to whether it has pre drilled holes for a direct port setup or not.
LS1derful, I may have to take you up on your offer, but I'd still rather find a place locally and save the hassle of shipping 2 intakes and a set of heads across country.

I really feel this intake is for the bigger cube boys. The H/C stock cubes can benefit but I think these intakes are really gonna' shine on the big cubes. For us big cube rollers, it's worth the money to get the max performance.

Thats cool Verbs, but i will test for free to lessen expense of shipping, and i can have some local board members present to validate my results.

Re: TEA head port stalling test #1, buy an LSX intake!
i like where FAST is going with the LSX, but i still wish a good composite intake would come out specifically for the bigcube motors, with really big runners comparable to the custom C5R-like intakes
i dont see how hard it would be to make it, and still fit under the hood of a Z28
i dont plan anytime going with a 400+ cube motor, but i would like to see the big boys get what they want and deserve, instead of shelling out $2k+ for those C5R like intakes
it would help our community out alot IMO
btw, im still gonna buy an LSX :p
