Default trying to get past 400rwhp

I think the time has come for me to get my first cam finally. I read all the stickies but still cannot decide.

So far ive put the K&N cold air kit, jethot race style long tubes, 3inch ory, and a B&B triflow catback, new plugs, and taylor plug wires.I still need to buy a LS6 intake manifold which will be done before the cam.

My main goal is to get a cam that will push me past 400rwhp and still retain manners for daily driving, my car last dynod at 350rwhp at the wheels and is a m6 tranny. Do you think a 224/224 112lsa cam would get me there along with the ls6 manifold? if not, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My first setup was ls6 intake, LT's, ORY, catback and the tr224 cam and I made 396rwhp/383rwtq. About a week after the cam swap I wished I would have gone bigger. Check out the 228r from texas speed and if you want the stock manners you probly should get a 114 lsa. The 112lsa can be driven around as a daily driver but its alittle choppy and rough.

Thanks for the advice, 228/228 sounds like it would be good numbers for my application, I probably will not be getting heads for a while after this due to my play money running dry. Wish I could find a dyno graph comparing a 112lsa to a 114lsa of the same cam

Every thing I have seen the differance is about 10 hp less on the 114 lsa to the 112lsa. Not that big of a sacrifice if you need the manners for daily driving. Dont get me wrong the 112 lsa can be driven daily It just bucks alittle when the rpms are low in first gear. So if you dont mind that get the 112. How much starting and stoping do you do?

I do not do excessive stop and go driving but it does happen sometimes. I think I will go with the 112lsa so I get that sligtly more aggressive sound and get as much horsepower as I can, I've gotta try and find some dyno graphs of a 228/228 lsa112 230/230 112lsa. Having a hard *** time trying to find these graphs though.

If you haven't driven a cammed LS1 I would just got with the 224/224 112. That with an UD pulley should put you at 400rw all day. Different people have different opinions on drivability, I think its better to be upset because you didn't hit your power goal rather to be upset because you don't like the way the car drives.

I looked at the dyno graph of it on thunder racing for their 224/224 112 lsa and it got 398 peak horsepower at the wheels, the curve on the graph looks real nice too, I'll most likely go with this considering its my very first cam and the car is my dd. Thanks for the help everyone.

I was thinking of getting a cam as well, but mines an auto. I have the same mods as konstantine16, except I'm adding a 3600 stall and 373 gears. Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I'm just currious! What would my hp number be about? Thanx

damnit...I'm torn between getting the texas speed 228r cam with 112lsa or the thunder racing 224/224 112lsa cam. anyone chime in on this? I'm leaning towards the 228r at this point.

I did the 224/224 from Speed Inc. With the 12 bolt and 4.10's,this car is a lot of fun. Go through TA Pics in my sig. There's a dyno graph in there somewhere. Hope that helps/ All the supporting mods are in my sig.

Fyi the TR graphs tend to be on the optimistic side - in that case aluminum flywheel and carbon fiber driveshaft. That said I have the TR224 and I love it (114 lsa here).
