Here is a graph to show you the powercurves you could be looking at. The mods on that car are listed below.
383rwhp/374rwtq
Mods:
'02 Camaro, El Toro 230/230 on 111+4, 1.75" LTs, ORY, Magnaflow cat-back with QTP cut out, Edge 3600 stall converter, stock 3.23 gears, PP TB, stock pulley, SLP lid, and stock MAF.
For a M6 I would prefer it on 111+2 LSA
The same cam has seen 420+rwhp cam only (more mods)
Here is a link with the same cam (420+rwhp) for comparison (graph post #40) and a sound clip (post #1):
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...0-111-2-a.html
This gives you a look at the potential of this cam and the powercurves it produces and is a definite 400+ cam only with normal bolt ons on a M6.

I asked the guy who spec'ed the 228/234 112+2 about making it a little bigger for some more power up top. he said it wouldn't have anything down low if we went any bigger. I also asked him about the cam on a 111 LSA and he said that when you want to change the lsa and add advance you are changing the original valve events that were set up for that cam and i wouldn't be moving the powerband in my favor? I am pretty sure i want to go with this custom cam, I just almost feel that it is a little on the small side and it won't have as much power as I am expecting.

These are the valve events for the 228/234 cam:
0.050
228/234, 112/110
IVO>4
IVC>44
EVO>51
EVC>3
ECL>114
7* overlap
And these are the VEs for the 230/230 cam:
0.050
230/230, 111/109
IVO>6
IVC>44
EVO>48
EVC>2
ECL>113
8* Overlap
As you can see they are very close, but the 230/230 will make more power and trq.
Why?
More duration, more lift, earlier IVO resulting in bigger charge in the cyl., more trq undercurve due to 48 EVO (Vs 51 on the 228) and 1* more overlap.
Oh and BTW, did I mention this 230/230 cam is ranked 12th on fastest cam only section and the smallest of its peers

415 rwhp through a steel driveshaft and a moser 9" (with under drive pulley, ls6 intake, p&p stock tb, and kooks 1 3/4 headers)
28 mpg on the way to memphis for the lsx shootout
cam doesn't even "chop" at idle
it's only a 224 cam
sound clip http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o...rststartup.flv
and that was the first start up, so the idle/tune was at it's worse during that video.

Honestly I'm going to say talk to Patrick G or a good shop who can spec you a custom cam for what you need. That being said I went to Rapid and Mikey hooked me up with his Dominator 2 cam. I'm full exhaust, UD pulley, cam, stock ls1 intake/TB/heads. Not even close to full bolt on's. Cam is a 230/238 on low 600's lift with 113 LSA. Very streetable, only reason i don't DD it is because i love my loudass exhaust and neighbors dont haha. There are others who can vouge for DD of this cam. If you have anymore questions about this particular cam PM me (i'm bad at recheckin threads). It redlines at i think 6800 so shift at like 6600. Oh #'s are in sig, lookin for 420's+ with Fast 92/92.

I guess thats why the autos prove them selves at the track. But I do agree with you nobody should loose that much TQ with a cam swap. The best time with that cam only combo was a 12.59 at 112 with a 1.98 60ft on street tires with stock gears and with a ATI underdrive pulley.

Launching!
I kinda in the same boat but was told the 228R winds up to like 6400 with a 3200 stall be very nice. BTW TExas Speed and Performance has a very nice/friendly tech staff.

yeah that is the only thing i could think of was maybe the converter was not locked that will bring the numbers down a hair, it might be very loose and inefficient too, i guess it could be the tune...i would look into it though if i were you, unless u are satisfied...

cams seem to be about certain trade-offs. i went with a tr224/edge 3200 stall/underdrive pulley and there isn't one spot anywhere in the powerband that it feels weak. pulls even/equal from idle to shift.
