***Need some CAM only advice****Please come in!
I need some advice. My car is a full bolt on m6 4.10 gear 00 WS6. I cannot decide what cam i want to go with. I know I want the car to make ~400RWHP and not spin it past 6400. I have considered the tsp 233, torquer 2, tr230, and a custom grind that i was suggested 228/234 .588 /.598 112+2. I am not looking for any lift over the lower .600's. Car is mainly a street car with an occasionaly trip to the strip. I don't care about street manners as long as the car is drivable, its just a weekend warrior, not a daily driver. Will the custom grind I was given make 400whp? How about the rest of them I listed above? Any other recomendation?

Back when I was cam only I had the the F-13 and made 394RWHP and 384RWTQ. This was thru a 10 bolt, stock ls1 intake, stock heads and pulley. Car always trapped 116-117. I'd look into Vengeance camshafts as well. Their cars are making the power and running the number at the track nationwide..

AFR cam 6017 LS1 Hydraulic Roller Custom Cams 234/238 .595/.605@114, this should break over 400 rwhp and deliver excellent under the curve power with plenty of torque. Your 4.10s will compliment it nicely and take care of the low end fun and rocket you into the powerband

There are several cam only cars going 120-125mph. Although you have a pretty picky list for as mild as you want to go. Alot of cam only setups are well capible of making 400+ rwhp but not TOO many can do it with less than .600" and under 6400rpm. Its possible and has been done I'm sure, but good luck.

You want cam-only 400 rwhp and dont want to spin past 6400 rpms, and nothing past .600 lift? You'll need some luck and somebody with a dyno that can be manipulated to give you the number you want.

I am not just wanting a car that will make 400 rwhp just so I can go say it has 400rwhp. I want it to make that much so it will haul ***. My goal is to have a really quick car that puts in the area of 400rwhp. I am willing to go a little into the .600 lift, but I looked at the torquer v3 and the .643 lift is pushing it for me.

I just don't want to have to replace the springs all the time, i want to make them last a few miles. My car is not even going to be put on a dyno, i just want something that is going to straight up move! I am just getting the car tuned out on the street, I won't even have a clue as to what it makes after the install.

If the car is never going to see the dyno then who cares how much power it makes? As long as it runs good. My car is cam only and is on a nitrous tune only making 374hp to the wheels. I still trap 116 at the track. So dyno numbers don't mean anything. Hit up Patrick G and he'll spec you a nice cam. I have one of his cams and my car runs pretty strong

Wow...I'm so confused. Maybe you should look at a heads/cam setup with a mild cam. It really sounds like you dont want a big cam at all, and you're certainly not up for the maintenance. A mild cam with a decent set of heads is exactly what you're looking for.
What's the reason you don't want to spin past 6400?
And what is a reasonable spring swap mileage for you? (12k,15k, etc)
Why not put the car on the dyno for tuning?
If the car is a weekend warrior how many miles are you putting on it a year? (Trying to gauge how often you're looking at a spring swap)

I have heard with a high lift cam that spring changes can come as often as every 10,000 miles. I would like to get 15,000 out of a set of springs. I put about 10,000 miles on it a year. I don't want to spin it past 6400 just so i have some piece of mind, I really don't want to blow this thing up. I do not want a mild cam such as the 224 cam. I am loooking for something in the medium range like the ones I listed. Green light motorsport in Kokomo indiana is doing the tune on it for $250 as opposed to a dyno tune for $500. I have talked to severl guys that had them tune their cars on the street. They all had great results and one of them got a dyno tune afterwards and only picked up 4rwhp.

I was in your same situation. I wanted a medium sized cam but was unsure which one exactly so I decided to see what patrick g thought was best. And I love my cam. It has very good midrange and pulls like a beast up top. Send predator z a pm, he also specs good cams

You should be able to get 15k out of springs no problem with a reasonable cam (just make sure to get a good spring package). Try to look for a cam with some advance ground in as it will peak lower in the powerband. As said earlier there are those who can spec cams for you or you can go with something off the shelf. In your situation a custom spec may be more appropriate as alot of off the shelf cams will work best being shifted above 6400 (even those that peak lower).

there are lots of guys with tr224 or tsp228 that produce over 400rwhp @ about 6500. As long as you have ALL of the supporting mods a 224 or 228 will give you wnat you want without having to change heads.
