Default .025 head gaskets?

Where can I get some .025 MLS gaskets for my 6.0/L92 motor? I want to up the compression and changing the head gaskets sacrifices the least PTV clearance. The heads are already milled to 64cc

Better check the deck clearance. Unless your pistons are below deck quite a bit you'll be smacking the heads with that thin of a gasket.

Hows that? .020 is .020 no matter how you get there.

He means as apposed to milling. You don't have to take away as much off of a head gasket as you do off the head to come up with the same CR.

Correct.

A .025 gasket puts me at 11:1. Where can I get the .030 cometics?

I'll be checking PTV

We stock and sell Cometic gaskets. The .030" would be special order since they are not commonly used. Please check deck height when using this thin of a gasket. Like someone said above, you will have piston to head clearance issues once you start going below .036" clearance...

PM me or give me a call and I can get you taken care of.

Thanks,
Shane

Default gaskets

I put .027 cometics on a 403 I did a couple years ago. You should be able to order them from most vendors...I bet their are over 30 vendors that support this forum that would be happy to sell you a set. Make sure piston to head clearance is enough. Mine were in the hole .006.

Not will have, MAY have. Also remember that aluminum blocks can grow up to .010" when hot. Not this guys case because he has a iron block but something to keep in mind when going for a tight build.

You are correct, I was referring to the iron block. I found the exact clearance a few years ago on a 408 we built for my car...

The heads had nice smooth "eyebrows" on each quench surface. The motor made mad power 523RWHP with a stock LS6 intake and TB through a 9" so I guess theories about quench are well founded...

I'm planning on pulling the heads this weekend so I'll check the piston height then.

I'm doing another 6.0 build and the idea is to use the MLS .054 gaskets from my 6.0 on this other one and buy new ones for mine. I have to get gaskets for the other motor anyway so I can sort of kill two birds with one stone.

What is the diameter of the stock LQ4 gasket and the cometics?

6.0 gasket is 4.04x. The smaller the better in your case and Cometic has a range of sizes.

You just doing a 364 or something bigger from the 6.0 block?

I see that SD has the .027 units. I was going to place an order with them anyway so I'll add those gaskets to it after I check piston to deck height.

I'm just planning on the stock 4.000 bore for a while. Just want to get compression up as far as possible without crashing valves.
