Default Ls1 or lt1

ok I have a 99 gmc sierra with a 4.3L v6 and I've been looking to swap for a v8. The only problem is figuring out what kind I want, I know that the easiest way would be to get a 5.3L from a truck like mine since it would be a direct swap, but I've also been flirting with the idea of putting in an ls1 or lt1 in that badboy. So my question to you is wich motor is easier and much better to swap for and how exactly would I do it???

I appreciate your thoughts...thanks

Neither, swap in a 6.0 LQ4/LQ9. It would be the exact same swap as the 5.3.

Agreed. LQ4/9 swap would be your best bet. Fairly cheap as far as LS style motors go as well.

LT1 wouldn't be worth it, too much work for nothing more as far as performance.

Wow thanks to everybody for the input!!

I'll mos def consider the 6.0.

Quick question tho, will it be a direct swap for everything besides the PCM and wiring harness?

Not sure, you'd probably have to hit up the conversion section for that.

iIf you go to the very top of the page and click on the performance trucks tab you'll find alot more info about what you're trying to do. Lots of truck motor swapping going on there. Your same user name and password will work there too.
