Default New engine/light tapping

Well I just got my engine put in about a week ago. Cranked it up and it sounded good besides an exhaust type leak. I've put a little over 300 miles on it staying under 4krpm's and it stayed the same till yesterday. I pulled on the highway and heard a ticking noise but the oil pressure was perfect so I didn't think much about it. I got home and was going to check the exhaust leak and I heard a constant ticking/light tapping noise that follows the engines rpm's. I put it up for the day and I cranked it up this morning and it's still there. No louder but still followed the rpm's. I took it up the road and felt a miss in it that's happening the same time as the ticking noise. The miss wasn't there yesterday when I first noticed the noise. Was wondering if anyone had any input?

My car is weird as well. Everyone once in a while that ticking noise shows up, then it goes away, which makes me believe it's got a bad lifter. I did a fresh oil change with Mobil 1. I used 6 quarts, mainly because it seems to starve it self using 5 quarts. Has ported ls6 oil pump.

Have you checked your oil? How long since last change?

New engine with about 300 miles on it. Details on the engine: Stock bottom end, Clevite H-bearings rod and main, comp 224/228 cam, LS7 lifters, hardened 7.4 pushrods, low mileage stock rockers and patriot dual springs.

I just pulled both valve covers again and checked everything again. Everything seemed to look ok. Still has perfect oil pressure so I want to assume it's lifters. Any suggestions?

Found the miss. #7 plug wire got pulled off last time I pulled the coils off. Runs decent now but still has the tapping. Alll the rocker bolts are tightened the 22ft lbs. I'm going to change the oil and drive it for a little bit. Definately going to take it easy though.

But did you double check them? They have a habit of backing out.

Yea I did. I just changed the oil to a thicker weight and drove it. I drove for about 2 or 3 miles and pulled over and the noise has went away. So I'm going to keep driving it for a bit and see how it does.

Got back in it and cranked it up. Didn't hear anything at first but I went up the road a little ways and could hear the tapping. And then after a little while it went away for the most part. lol Can still hear it faintly. Oh well just going to drive it.

I'm telling you mine is the same, huge cam seems to be hard on lifters, hasn't did it since I changed the oil. How many quarts of oil you use?

Mine isn't anywhere big as yours. I go ahead and put 6 quarts in when I do a change.
