Where are the F-body guys hooking up the Electric water pumps
OK so I have an electric water pump I will be installing on my car soon. I was wondering what power source most people are using. I have also thought it would be nice to tie it into my one fan that I have set up to stay running for 30seconds after the car is shut off over a certian temp. But I can't just tie it into that since that is not on all the time when the car is running. Kinda thinking about doing a relay setup and having 2 different sources that could turn it on. Like a key on engine running power and also the power when ever my one fan is on. Anyone have any ideas. Or how they have set theres up

I would HIGHLY recommend you tie your power from the jump start terminal and do a relay setup. You can blow fuses tapping into other sources. Look at LS1howto, they have a bunch of good wiring diagrams.

posted this on here and on cz28...got more responses over there so i'll send you that link:
tips for EWP install on fbody
basically the install info on ls1howto was a little wrong. it still worked, but not as they said it would.
the wire they said to use was not the fuel pump...it was the ignition.
and they should tell you to remove that 1 15mm bolt that holds the idler pulley in place, makes for easier removal and install of the pump itself.
i just did this last month...so any other questions feel free to ask.
oh and here's the link to the thread i started on here...with no responses...feel free to add to it, to help others.

Thanks I basicly I found what I wanted on the ls1 how to site. I was looking more for how to wire it up so that I could have 2 different sources commanding it on. like they show a diagram for being powered by fuel pump relay and by a manual switch. I am gonna set my up to be powered by the fuel pump relay and the relay for my low temp fan that I have commanded via HPtuners to stay running for 30 seconds after the car is shut off if coolant temps are over a certian temp. Now when I shut the car off my fan and waterpump will stay running for 30 seconds to help cool the motor down when shut off.
