I don't know the cost, but only that it's not a simple bolt in the new pistons, rods, crank and you've got a 383. I'm certainly not an engine builder, and I respect the attention to detail and criticality of getting the measurements right, so I would rather spend the money to have it done correctly.

I think if you look around, a good engine builder should be able to get your a 383 ls1 stroker short block for roughly ~$3200-$3500. Then you could sell your current short block for 500-600 to recoup some of the cost.
