what cam would be best with my setup??
i have a 98 trans am. mods are in my sig, i have some ported and polished 5.3 heads with a valve job done, ls7 lifters, comp springs, titanium retainers, chromally push rods. i want this car to be a fast street car, not just a track car. i want a rough idle, and my redline will be at 6500 so a the best cam to make power with with that info. please let me know. and if someone has one for sale you could tell me specs on here as well. thanks guys!!

We have been getting very good results with our stinger cam. 224/230 113+3. Cam hauls azz at the track and has been putting down 435-445rwhp and 400-415tq . Give me a call and I can help you with a cam choice, but that cam is our most popular at the moment. Excellent street manners with very good power.

For a solid street cam, anything in the 224-235 range should work great. And there's plenty to choose from so here on out is just nit-picking IMO. However, whoever you decide to go w/ in grinding or buying the cam, ask them the same question and what they'd prescribe for you.

We've got a few cams that should treat you very well with the mods you've stated. Our 228R is the first that comes to mind (228/228 .588"/.588"). It has been shown for several years to be a proven performer on the street and at the track! It will make peak power just after 6000rpm, so your 6500rpm shift point/rev limiter would be plenty!
Let us know if we can help with your combo! We've got cam kits starting at $589 with cam, springs, and pushrods. We also offer all of the related items such as gaskets, pullies, etc that you might want and need at the time of install!

Do the heads have stock valves in them? Have they been milled any? The biggest concern there is piston to valve clearance. Also, the Magic Stick needs more gear on that 6 speed car to help get you into its tall powerband. It's a race oriented camshaft with great top end power, but you have to be willing to sacrifice some of that low end grunt and make up for it if you want street manners and such.

Setup properly, it could be a blast for the track! The extra compression from the 5.3's will be nice too

If your heads aren't milled to much the torquer v.3 is a good cam shaft if you want a quick street car. I have the prc 2.5 5.3 heads with a custom speced predator Z cam 230/230 598/612 on a 111+2 that just made 434rwhp 402 rwtq to the wheels. This was with a fast 92/92 and most bolt ons through a full exhaust with cats in a (4000) stalled a4. With your 6 speed this thing would probably put down 450-460 pretty easy and probably around 420 tq.

Asking for someones opinion on which cam to run is like pissing in the wind, asking on the internet is like asking a bunch of guys to **** in the wind with you. Get a custom grind. Then you get what works best for you and at least the cam grinder knows which way the wind is blowing.
