Ls6 vs. Ls3 oil pump??
While talking to a local VERY reputable shop about my friends car they mentioned adding an ls3 oil pump instead of a ported ls6. They also said that it plowed more volume and had an additional 10-15 psi of pressure than their in house ported ls6 oil pump. I have searched and not found anything on this subject. What are your thoughts??? Oh yeah it costs the same as a non-ported ls6 pump!!

interesting but sometimes a ported LS6 pump will put out almost the maximum amount of psi you want anyway... for the price I guess its just a matter of preference... but I personally am sticking to tried tested and true, LS3 I'm sure would work just fine but I'm not going to look for an LS3 over an LS6 for any potential gains...

i thought i read somewhere on here not to use the ls3 oil pump. i was goign to get it for the extra pressure and volume. might want to call sdpc i thought they posted something about not using it a year back.

More pressure and volume are not always what you want. Unless you have overspec bearing clearances why would you want to try to push excess oil through-out the engine at the expense of hp and efficiency? You can push so much oil to the top of the engine that you would starve the pickup in the pan...especially in a high g situation.
