Default LS2 Vs. LS6

I sold my Camaro several years ago and was wanting one 2 days later. I've bought a 99 Z28 with a million miles, expecting to change the motor. What I need is assistance with motor selection...

From what I've read, people prefer the LS6 for the most part but I have a few questions for the vets:

1.) Why do people prefer the ls6 when the ls2 has a bigger TB? I understand you can get a larger one from fast but for $850, you could get the ls2 on the crate and port it for 1/4 as much.
2.) I plan to put a 150+ shot on it and the ls2 has flat top pistons? No one ever mentions this but wouldn't this alone be a huge advantage?
3.) The ls2 crate is $500 cheaper than the ls6. Why?
4.) Crate HP on the ls2 is +5 more than ls6. More crate horse, flat tops, and similar block with better (included) bolt-ons, I would think this is the better motor BUT how would future mods affect the decision on determining which motor is best?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Its going to take more work to put the ls2 in your fbody plus the ls2 is 6.0 with 4" bore (Im thinking its the same as the 6.0 truck engines, correct me if I'm wrong) and the ls6 is 5.7.

If it was me I would go with the LS2 only because of the displacement advantage.
They have the same heads but the LS6 has the better Valves, Springs, and Intake.
Put an LS6 intake on an LS2 with a decent cam and you have a nice setup.

LS2 all the way, like mentioned above the displacement is worth it. I just did an Ls2 swap w/ ls6 intake and re used my MS3. It hasnt been on the rollers yet but feels real healthy

I would have to agree with what I've read re: the ls2. What adapters/converters do I need to complete this?

LS6 also has flat top pistons in it; but I would go with more cubes and the ability to run the L92 heads on the 4'' bore of the LS2.

I have it all plotted after much research but having a hard time finding some things. Where can I find a site or parts list for items needed to convert to the ls2 in a '99, ie cables, sensor relocations, etc.?

I thought Scoggin Dickey (SDPC in vendors) had a batch of oddball Aussie crate motors that were LS2 shortblocks with L92 heads, L76 intake, but with a mild cam, rated at under 400hp.

I guess I should have been more specific and now I've changed the dynamics. I've bought a crate LS2 from GMHPP and expect to change the cam and swap with L92 heads.

Based on a crate LS2 motor going into a 99 Z28, I should have very little to change. I read a few threads mentioning the knock sensor, cam sensor, etc. Most of what I've seen seems to be swapping parts from a LS1 to 2 and got that from the thread you posted. I've seen that before and surely you don't have to change that much to drop a LS2 into a LS1 car, right?

It seems I've seen that before to but for under $5500, how can you pass up a LS2 with 90 mm TB, better intake than the LS1, and crated with 405 HP? Throw a cam and port some L92 heads, and you're close to 500 for under $6000 if you do it yourself!
