I called lg about the g5x3 and they told me that I could mill afr205 to 59cc and it would be close but it would work. So I would guestimate that it would be ok, but ALWAYS check P2V!

Very True and i think they also said with cometic .040 gasket too so you should be ok with the x2 but like stated above always check

Any of the big LG cams are gonna be close, but nobody on a car forum is going to be able to tell you for sure if it will clear or not. Some motors will have .080 clearance and be good, while others will have .030 and be too close.

I always recommend checking PTV clearance on ANYTHING over 230 degrees of duration.

FWIW, the AFR/G5X2/3 is a SICK setup.

yes but is that on your 383 or a 346..on a 383 it would be 11 to 1 but on a 346 it'd be less due to the size of the bore and stroke

In 2005 I had stock heads, stock gm gasket and thanks to Lou Gigliotti for inviting me to the shop to fix my headers (Due to a local shop messing up my car during the original install), he offered me a good deal on a cam (g5x3) and valvetrain upgrade since I drove all the way from Michigan to Texas. He wanted to make it worth my while. I also picked up a used 78mm FAST with a ported 78mm tb attached for cheap. Anyways back to the flycutting question with stock heads and gaskets they (LGM) flycutt my stock pistons to make sure I wouldn't have any issues with PTV. So I am not sure if you would need to flycutt with aftermarket milled heads or not. You could definately ask Anthony at LG Motorsports to make sure.

the valve drop on my afr 59cc 205's is int .155 ex .190

with that and youre gasket thickness if you have the valve events in relationship to youre crank you can figure it out but it is a pain

I had a cad guy at work draw a circle on catia of the dia of the stroke and give me the vertical drop every 5degs of crank movemeant from 0-60 deg's

the piston starts down very slow for the first 15 deg's and more so with the increase in stroke

I did mine this way and then checked it and it was pretty close

Man, I wish someone would sticky this post- I don't know how many times I've linked it to questions like this one.

There is 200 thou of valve drop on a stock motor.

Any X series( G5, X1, X2, X3, X4, 111/112/114 excluding the xX ( which in most cases, thats install only here at the shop) will fit on a stock engine, 112 or 114. The X3 110 will not clear stock heads, but it will be close on the AFRs. You gain quite a bit of PTV with AFRs. If you are not sure, and want to know what your setup came in at, check it.

Let me know if I missed any questions, Ill keep an eye on this thread just in case
In a nutshell you should be just fine with that light mill and the cam you are suggesting. However, like Damian said earlier, checking is the only way to know for sure. Properly degreed, that cam should clear easily.
