It should have torque specs for 30 weight oil.

On the arp molly grease pack it has a warning about useing other lubes could cause gasket failure so I would use oil or their grease to be safe.

make sure you clean the treads in the block so you get a proper torque reading.

good luck

Awesome, thanks guys!

Best way to clean threads is just to go buy a tap and run it through them?

Thanks!

FYI - I called their tech line and they do not recommend using engine oil for the head bolts. I agree because the engine oil seems to compress between the threads causing more resistance as the bolt is torqued higher to final spec. Save the headache and do it right the first time and just use the ARP moly lube for a more accurate torque reading.

You can use oil SAE30 valvoline racing is good, but I reccomend 85ft. lbs for larger bolts(11mm), and 30ft. lbs for smaller bolts(8mm). You should always cycle an new set of bolts before you just torque them down and go.

Did you "cycle" the new set of bolts, and did you have a torqure wrench that was accurate?

I would guess he means to tourqe them all the loosen and re tq them.

kinda like the arp rod bolts they say to tq them 3 times. I am sure it helps the threads kind of seat to each other and give a better tq reading.

this is only for reusable bolts do not do this with a tq to yeild fastener

yep a tap works good. just make sure you get all the crap out of the whole especially coolant. for that you can use some compressed air.

Got them all clean, i just gotta run the tap through.

Im 99.9% sure my bolts are re usable, they better be atleast, thats why i paid $120 for them!

PN 134-3610

Think ill just get the right lube for them, then ill torque them a few times.

Its not bad for the head gasket to torque them then loosen them 3 times?

i never actually seen anybody torque them down and loosen them on an ls1 engine. you just torque them down in 3 stages for the arp studs 30lbft 50lbft 70lbft (just the 15mm ones)

5 smaller ARP bolts and torque them to 22lbft.
