I came to see why a thread about something so trivial is two pages lol. Along the way I Learned about modifying the early heads for MLS gaskets.
The latest I've heard is that the MLS gaskets available now are 0.051" thick after mounting. (But who really knows what they'll hand across the counter at your local dealership? I guess that's why we have our trusty sponsors lol.)

My buddy who's a delco parts rep did some digging, and apparently the first several years the GM MLS came in at .056" . Not sure how long the newer ones have been around but GM made them a little thinner with a compressed thickness at 051"-.052" Maybe the last year or two?

Are my heads incompatible with the block or do I just need to find the correct head gaskets to use? Interestingly the leak appears to only be on the passenger side head although I confirmed I have windows on both sides.
