4.8 liter ??????
so here's the ? I have is are these motors any good
2nd how much power difference is it to a 5.3
the 1 thing to i want to add is the money i will save getting this motor i'll have the money to buy a cam
thank you
The stock cam specs as 191/190 degrees duration at 0.050", 0.457/0.466" lift, 114 degree lobe separation. Comp Cams offers one that doesn't require tuning the ECM, 206/212 on a 115, lift around .500"
These 4.8s are rated 290 ft-lbs at 4000 versus the 5.3 at 325 ft-lbs at 4000.
The LS4 is aluminum block, can be bored to 5.7L, comes with LS2 heads, and can be had for $1400. The catch is the crank snout is shorter, and similar minor differences at the rear of the block, but the LS1-pattern of bellhousing holes is still there along with the FWD pattern.
Still, helluva great price, just swap in an LS1 crank and pistons. Or go stroker.
Besides the obvious disadvantge of diplacement.
The same mods that you do to any other LSx you can do to a 4.8..Just with diminished returns.
I'd like to see what could be coaxed out of a little 4.8 actually.
