Default need HELP deciding which cam

Okay...here is the deal...I am looking for a cam as close to stock idle as I can get, without a tune, that will bring me the most horsepower possible...I am thinking of buying an MTI B1 instead of an LS6 cam because someone told me that you couldn't tell a difference in the LS6 and the MTI B1 side by side and the MTI would put out more power, he said you could tell a difference in both of these cam's idle from the stock ls1 cam's idle. True? Not True?

So which cam would you guys go with? I am interested in the MTI B1 but if it is gonna be very noticeable and I am gonna have misfire problems, have to tune it, have SES light problems, etc., I'm not getting it..It doesnt have to be either of these just whichever one you guys think is the best...Please people with either of these cams: COMMENT! I NEED HELP! haha thanks a lot for any input

the b1 cam will make more power over the ls6 cam, its just overall bigger, but still on the small side and its 114 will still idle good and shold drive no problem w/o a tune.

i dont think its big enough to throw a p0300 code so you should be good there.

it sounds loke you would be a good canidate for a sleeper cam, something like mti's 220/220 .581/.581 115lsa.

i'd personally go with a 224/224 114lsa myself

When you say idle good...will it idle really close to stock? Cuz issue is...DAD, he can't notice... This is the one I want but I heard the 114 LSA loped pretty good and noticeable, hope not, whatcha think?

you'll notice a 114 lope, it doesnt lope hard but it is definately noticible. thats why a 115+ stealth cam might be better.

another route you might take is the 03 ls6 cam, its pretty mild but will drive and sound like stock. wont make huge gains but

or you could try the custom route and have your own custom grind done, maybe a 220-224 .550-580 lift and a 116 or so lsa.

Hey look into my cam! (JUST KIDDING),
Actually what you want is an MTI B1, or a TR220.
I'd just go with the MTI Stealth cam actually, and get some tuning (despite your wishes, any cam you put in may require tuning). JRP has pointed you in the right direction.

Another vote for the TR224 114. I have this cam, and it idles pretty good through stock exhaust and after tuning. Your dad might notice and get pissed, but he will get over it quick! The same thing happened to me when I was 19 and brought home a '67 Firebird that loped so bad the engine looked like it was going to rock off the mounts!

another thing 98Redta, you didnt tell us if you had any other mods. also i dont know the situation between your car, you, and your dad but another route you could go is the bolt on route in lou of a cam.

but one thing, mods and trying to keep the ls1 sounding stock are almost impossilbe. once you wake these engines up they dont want to be quite .

things you can do increase the HP and keep the stock sound are lid, filter, ls6 intake, ported TB, pulley, ect.

once your start delving into headers, y pipes, catbacks, cams things start to change.
