i got one, 99' stock internals just took the motor out of it with 185k on it and tore the whole thing down for ***** to rebuild it and my block/internals couldn't have looked any better. i didn't beat the hell out of it but i didn't baby it either. take care of them and its normally a pretty good bet theyll last.

Corvette is a different animal, bro. Yeah, engine is the same, so is tranny, but it's everything else that will get you. C5s have a bunch of different modules and are wired in series. Batteries leak, like in f-bods, but the acid hits the PCM/harness. Topless? If the car was wet, a BCM or seat module will **** you up. Headlight motors, alternators, windows, and everything is MUCH more complex on Y than F cars. The mechanical is fairly reliable (I have 167k hard miles on mine). The electrical on that car will ruin you...

Changing fluids (ALL of them), filters, and cleaning injectors and top end are key. You MUST be preventative. If you are, the mechanicals on these cars are good 200-300k. If not, expect them to be good to 100k and then it's all on borrowed time.

YMMV but I worked in a Chevy dealer service department for years and saw LOTS of LS cars over time, in addition to taking care of my own. There's more than one meaning to the Corvette tax. Don't say you weren't warned.

Feh, I got 223,XXX miles on mine. Goin' on to 224K. It's still running pretty strong, albeit rough idle. It used to be a cop car, so it wasn't babied. BUT, it WAS well maintained. It's due for a full tune up this coming week though. Every fluid in the car is being changed out. Good luck to you and your LS1 and enjoy!

Also, you MIGHT want to clip that passenger side clip for the air lid :p. That sucker will fall right off! haha

Good stuff right here! Good maintenance will offset some abuse fo' sho'! I'd bet with a PROPER injector flush and decarb of the top end, new plugs and fuel filter - your idle smooths out a lot. Seen it many times, I like the BG stuff myself.
