Default 5.7 carnage!

My car decided to break #5 intake spring and drop a valve on the highway recently...
Took out basically the whole motor. Tore up #5 cylinder/combustion chamber, maybe wouldnt have been so bad if i didnt have manley stainless valves. Kicked a hole in the block, windage tray, and pan, and destroyed this piston...Although the Lifters and Cam werent even phased, they look great.
Was running a Comp 928 beehive, MS4, and had about 6500 miles on the whole motor.

Here are parts of the piston, cylinder sleeve, valve, block, rod, etc... Ill try to get an actual pic of the block soon.

Enjoy...you know I did!

Well I was told before I bought the springs, by the brand/company who makes or distributes them, that on the box they were rated for .650 lift, and that they would work fine with the aggressive ramp rates of the MS4 and I shouldn't have any issues. But after the motor went, I called back and was later told that the springs would no doubt be ok with that high of a lift, but that with the ramp rates of my cam, taking the motor over 6300 rpm is too much for the spring.

No doubt, I will continue to use a dual spring from now on, even though my new motor is getting a smaller cam.

^ That's not leaving much room for error .649 on a .650 rated spring...

So you used a .650 max lift spring with a .649 max lift cam?
