Default LS2 vs LS6

I'm buying parts for head and cam swap and i found a intake for 100 plus my labor, i was told it was a LS6 but i check numbers its a LS2 intake so is it worth the any power gains vs the LS6

an ls2 and a ls6 intake are said to be the same except the ls2 has a 90mm throttle body opening.

No they arent, the LS2 intake is one of the worst LS style intakes.

The LS6 is much better...

i have done some reseach on the intake the worst LSX is the ls1 and the best is the ls6 but the ls2 intake with some porting will work better then the ls6 because it can handle 90mm thorttle body

Ls6 is a good intake off the self NO PORTING

A ported and sealed ls-2 will perform almost as well as a fast-otherwise stock it sucks I will leave you to find the info through this mess.

for the money, find a used f.a.s.t... That is if you can find anyone selling one used. they are pretty well liked.

well f.a.s.t. is much money......the ls6 i found so far are damaged and got ls2 for 100 and check with 10 second lsx runners and they said for the street ls2 will work great with the cam i'm running 598/640 lift and ported 241 heads........so for 100 i'm going to try it on the dyno and see the number and i will try the ls6 too ......thanks

Here is my dyno graph of my truck with a LS2 intake, then swapping to an untouched/unported FAST 90mm. I kept the same 90mm Drive by wire throttle body on both.

Same day, same hour, ZERO changes except for the intake. I also had a puny cam, 196/200 .469/.479 stock LQ9 cam, stock exhaust manifolds and all. Its worth the money.

You pay someone who, you hope, knows what they are doing. Home port jobs more often than not hurt performance.

I mean what part of the intake do you port?
And what are the real gains from it?

You have to port the intake runners and match it to heads.......you need to find somebody with a flow meter or somebody that knows how to do it.....i'm doing because of the price.....i can not buy the high dollar parts like F.A.S.T. but i'm willing to try a few simple things

well a stock LS2 is ok but doesnt compare to ls6 or f.a.s.t. but it shows better then a Ls6 when the LS2 is ported to match the heads. and it has a opening designed for 90mm throttle body=more air flow. plus it looks stock

There is company called PortWorks or something like that that specializes in LS2's. I am sure if you look hard enough you can find them....

But then if you port your FAST you are once again ahead....

well i'm a very tight budget and so i do a lot of research and talk to guy who run a few 10 second cars using different intakes and set up........i take note from these guys they spent tons of money to go fast so i dont have too.......but 900 for a fast intake vs 100 + 100 for porting so....the winnner is the 200 for me
