So I've been running lean lately in the 2 and 3 cylinders. Could I need a tune to fix this? Also I have a really bad exhaust leak at the collectors. So could that have an affect on it? The leak is close to by 02 sensors. Also I dont have rear 02's. My mods are lid, h pipe, and longtubes if that would have any affect on it too. Or what else could it be?

I don't get why you would ask a question about your car running like crap but you rattle off a list of things wrong with the car that effects how the car runs. That rates right up there with, my car is dynoed low because I have a bad clutch or worn spark plugs.

FIX THE KNOWN ISSUES and no, a tune will not fix the 2 lean cylinders, how do you know they are lean? What tools are you using to determine there is a problem.

 

Get your exhaust buttoned up before you get into tuning. Every case I've seen involving an exhaust leak causes the PCM to richen the air:fuel mixture, so it may not be the only thing wrong.

No tuner can make a GM PCM vary fueling for individual cylinders, he'd have to spoof it with external hardware. The PCM only measures each bank's exhaust output and adjusts the entire bank based on what the front O2 sensor tells it.

So how do you know cyls 2 and 3 are running lean? If you have good data showing this, it's likely that either those injectors are partially obstructed and underflowing, or your intake is leaking unmetered air at those two intake ports.

 

I came up on a check engine light. I poured in the sea foam and the gasket is on its way from summit so theirs not really much I can do about that. I was just trying to get some input on what else it could be

 

What was the error code(s) you saw?

 

I'm pretty sure it was p0174 was one of them, and i dont remember the other one. And the light went away, so if it doesn't come back am I alright?

 

Exhaust leaks allow air into the system, which can fool the O2 sensor into reading a "lean" burn condition.

Fix your exhaust.

 

Fix your junk, run the codes after a day or so.

The lean codes are for entire banks, not individual cylinders. Get your exhaust leaks fixed, make sure you don't have a vacuum leak, and you may be god to go.

 

You have high expectations...

 

yeah like i said I order the gasket and it should be here saturday, because nobody in town carries copper gaskets, and one of the bolts on the collector rusted out so its pretty much open headers now. And just to be safe I ran some sea foam through the gas tank to try to clean out my injectors too.

 

Mr. Gasket makes a spiffy collector bolt set with interference-fit nuts that won't come loose, and they're stainless steel so no rust. Using them with copper collector gaskets has been a sure thing in my experience.
