I've got that same set up. I'm reworking the top end right now but torque is insane! Through a stalled auto and 9" it should put out about 480rwhp and close to the same tourque depending on set up. My set up will definately do 10's on motor. With the new top end I'm looking for 10.70's. But for the money unless your spraying like me and looking for low 9's I would definately go LS3 block with an eagle 4.1 crank for 427cubes. There's a lot more head voices out there and it would cost the same to build since the lunati kit cost considerably more. It all depends on your goals.

My 396 runs pretty good.

Erik Koenig built it 3-4 years ago.

3.9 eagle crank
callies rods
Weisco pistons

We built a 396 so Erik could build me a stronger nitrous piston.

Isn't it a 3.905 bore x 4.100 stroke?

The typical way is 3.90 bore x 4.125 stroke. That's how mine is set up. The longer stroke increases torque by about 40-50flbs over the entire rpm range compared to a built 346 with all other things being equal. Ie, heads, cam (rpm range), intake, ect.
