i pulled longblock /trans out the top....you either need a big cherrypicker or a hoist...due to our long *** front bumpers a snall cherry picker will not work...

I can't find any pics that I already have online of how I used the hoist to pick up the car. But I have a wooden cart that I set the motor and trans on with all the suspension and picked up the car by the rad support. Worked very well. I have done SSdreamz's motor like that and mine twice. I also did a friends motor at my work using a lift. That was nice I had the motor on the floor in 1 hour. But at home on the floor with the cherry picker I can have it out in around 3 hours

yes, its very easy out the bottom. I did mine in the garage in roughly 5 hours from start to finish. it took us literally 10 minutes to drop the motor out the bottom. Was unhooking the rest of the stuff that took a couple hours.

I just turned 20 in may, i have owned my car since i was 16(01 trans am). i dropped a gm crate ls6 and had my tranny built, etc.. i took mine out of the bottom, only time i need help was pulling the front assembly out and back in with it hooked to the radiator support on the hoist. it was a piece of cake for the most part. ive got a few pics in my album. hope everything goes smooth for you man good luck

Interesting, looks like the general consensus is that you can take it out from the top OR the bottom. I'm concerned about being able to get the car high enough off the ground to take it out from the bottom myself.
